My deepest sympathy to Deb's family. She was a great dispatcher for the police department and good co-worker when she was at the federal center in the MegaCenter. She could always make you laugh just when you needed it. So sorry for your loss.

I worked with Deb throughout her time at Central Dispatch. She was a great person and a good friend, and I always looked forward to our shifts together. I loved her like a sister; which is to say that yes, we got on each other's nerves once in a while; but we always worked it out. We managed to make each other laugh when we needed to. Some of us with whom she worked (myself included) were on duty in dispatch on the day she passed. I'd like to think that Deb would have taken comfort in knowing that we were there.

Goodbye my coworker, my sister, my friend. Rest in peace.

Debbie was always amazing me! I have told numerous people about the time she started a business selling posters. She found these unusual 3D posters that were just starting to become trendy but no one in Battle Creek had seen yet. She quickly procured a kiosk in McCamly Place, got the inventory, hired staff and was in business! This woman had chutzpah! She also had a giving heart. She received an unexpected check once and donated a very large sum of money to purchase a well for a village in Africa that did not have clean drinking water. I remember that someone exclaimed "Why would you do that?! Give away so much money.." And she said "So people can live". She received a picture of the villagers next to their new well that they named after her and a letter with stories of how she had changed and saved lives. I know many others that would have bought a new car or vacation with those funds, but Debbie thought of others. I think that her sensitive soul was a cause of her pain. She felt everything so deeply. I admired her beauty and her poise. When I first met her, she reminded me of Princess Diana - just impeccable in her appearance. Later, I found out that those demands that she put on herself to be perfect caused her pain. I have so many memories of her! Like the time we were looking for a restaurant on a one way street in Battle Creek and she realized that it was in the block behind us - she threw the car in reverse and we backed up two city blocks to get there! She was one of the best friends I ever had - my soul mate. She understood when no one else did and for that reason I couldn't wait to share my life's events with her. I will always cherish the times we shared and laughed. One of the last things she said to me was "They can throw me to the wolves, but I'll come back the leader of the pack!" I believe you will, Debbie, because I know you and know you can accomplish whatever you set your sites on. I will always admire you and be inspired by you. I pray you are at peace.

I have a very vivid memory of Debbie and I first starting out as dispatchers. We both were working night shift Debbie was thinking of a Halloween costume for her daughter Jessie and I was trying to figure out costumes for my sons Nick and A.J. We decided we would make the costumes ourselves. Not quite as easy as we thought. Here we were sewing batman costumes by hand on night shift laughing at how they were turning out, but we did it! They were made with lots of love and laughter. Debbie had a contagious laugh and a wonderful smile. I got the nickname of "trixie", from Debbie. Jessie couldn't remember the lady with the two boys name and thought it was 'Trixie" Debbie got a kick out of that and so that was my nickname she gave me. There are so many illnesses, some very apparent that we see and embrace and some that we as a society fail to see and acknowledge. You my friend battled a brave fight. You are a warrior at peace now! I know I will see your smile again someday in heaven. Godspeed!
