Obituary for David Dean Sims

David Dean Sims (Old dog), 65 of Battle creek Michigan passed away of natural causes on Sunday February 24 ,2019. He was born on July 14, 1953, the son of William Ralph Sims and Airetta LaRene Reynolds. David honorably and proudly served in the United States Army. He was a tradesmen, electrician, author of two books, Reverend with great passion for the Lord, and drove the church bus. He is survived by his four daughters, Airetta La-Rene (Bobby) Collins, Dana LaRene (Chad -deceased) Sims-Allen, Stephanie Lynn (Chris) Williams, Wendy Smith, three sons, Bobby Lee (Jamie) Sims, David Dean Sims J.R., and Justin Wade (Emily) Sims, 28 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, two sisters, Mary G. Sims-Rubel, Lyleen Still, five brothers, Walter (aka Danny) Sims, Roger Sims, Del Nash, Thomas Kellogg, Dion Kellogg, two former spouses, Kay Asher, and Sheri Eldred and his extended brothers and sisters, the Vanvleet family. He loved spending his free time with his family camping, fishing, hunting, playing chess, playing the guitar and writing music. He was his family's Grill Master, and was known as Santa Clause to many.
Visitation will be held on March 2, 2019 at Baxter Funeral and Cremation Service from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, with the memorial service beginning at 1:00 pm
The family will be having a dinner at the Elks right after the funeral. Please bring a dish to pass to the Elks Lodge, 1200 Harmonia Road, Battle Creek, MI. If you would like to drop off food beforehand, someone will be at the Elks from 11 am to 12:30 to receive.
